View Full Version : Downhill For a day!
Off to north wales for the fourth time this year on the 22nd july (sun),we are trying to find a new track, does anyone know of any unofficial downhill tracks around the snowdon area.Ben told me of one next to the golf course in Bala:D ,But as you know there are loads of trails up there :? ,so if you know of any could you please post me either links or directions for them.I am getting p*ssed off finding xc courses, although the courses are great there are to many ups for so little downs:rez:
its not next to a golf course haha, i said it has gause bushes like a golf course, pen y bont fawr, its well worth checking out, bout 20mins west of oswestry
Thanks mate,we go past owestry on the a5,have to check it out, nice one for the feedback Ben:yeah:
Stop off in oswestry and ask some of the locals about the trails up steppy ;)
ermmm well we are off to Coed Y Brenin or something like that in August. Im not sure exactly where it is in Wales but apparently it is really good and like the red bull district. I know it is somewhere close to Dolgellau which is in that area, i think...??? Anyway, it looks really good :D
If your as North as Snowden then check out Foel Gasnach which lies west of Ruthin. It has 3 tracks which are quality and gives you the opportunity to do you own uplifts (responsibily).
Check http://www.foeldhriders.com/foelgasnach_location.asp for the exact location and also check their forum for visitor rules and code of conduct......it's important as they are having a tough time with people abusing it.
I thought Pen-Y-Bont-Fawr was on private land the same as Bala and so I wouldn't expect legal access on there. They do uplifts at Moelfre most weekends now so you could try there.
Ben
Thanks chaps, got loads there to keep me going for now,i will check these places out on the net when i get home from work:p :p Have some rep points for the info!!!

The trails there are very good although they are xc routes i think they had us downhillers in mind also when developing them,me and some mates from grantham did the red bull trail a couple of years back.the track is very rocky so expect arm pump, snap, crackle and pop section is well worth the long slog up and there are some tasty fireroad decents with neverending corners,be advised though it gets really slippery when it rains as you are riding rocks alot of the time:afro:
might be going to coed y brenin myself a week on sunday to do the karrimore trail ive heard the downhill parts are awesome plenty of kickers and rock drops to keep you entertained,i will let you know how it turns out, also the trails have been renamed as there has been money spent there donated from the forrestry commission"nice":p .the karrimore is known as dragons back and the red bull is called something different now.there are 6 trails there,a visitor centre, bike wash and toilets big enough to wash and change in.hope there is some useful info for you there xpink to keep you going......its worth the journey:wow:
okey dokey thank you, have a good time when you go!! All sounds pretty good :D:D cant wait til August, gonna be awesome :):D:):D
The red bull is now called the Tarw trail.
