View Full Version : autumn series/winter series
i was told last weekend that a series might be starting up on the hill, when will this event take place, will it be every week?,once a fortnight?,when will it all start?,how many people will be involved?,will it cost money to enter the races,if so will there be prizes,     ....its a wicked idea and it will get me on my bike through the depressing months to come.....:filthy:
Ey, would be good to know because then i can book the time off work with good notice!
There are thoughts of a winter series. Plan is to have them once a month. Changing the track each time. 1 race a week is far too much, the planning etc that went into the last one took a good amount of time, track maintanance, marshalls, numbers, signs, timing...... even once a fortnight would be!
I'm pretty sure it will all be run the same as the last race - Early start 8am for practice with 2 race runs after 11 with a stop in the middle after each category has had 1 run and then a second run followed by a bbq possibly.....? Last time there were 60 entrants to the race, i think if we were to start a series we'd be looking closer to 100 if this was ok with plans and regulations.
Cost would be about the same too i would think £5 for the race then £50 for BBQ although i think this could easily rise to £10 for the race as all the money goes back to the club and £10 is a reasonable amount for a 2 run race..... when you pay £50 for NPS and £40 for midlands, i know these have uplifts but they cost a lot more. What do people think, would you be willing to pay this?
Last time there were a good few prizes, trophies and prize money for the 'King of the hill' - winer over all. Prizes included T-shirts, bike maintanance accesories, hoodies etc. Most were from Rasen Bikes or Pace racing.
Great event the last one, and im sure the next will be even better :D
Hope this helps

+ more profits = more for us all to enjoy :D Everyone wins
Cost would be about the same too i would think £5 for the race then £50 for BBQ

I think that a £10 is fine... and if u think about it if 50 people enter thats £500 owww yerr lol and thats with out the bbq if there is one.. and if there will be 4 races thats alot of monies lol for new materials and stuff... and it sounds good fun aswell...
Sorry, that was a typo, £5 for bbq lol
I think it would be better if it could be done over 2 days so practice on saturday and one practice run and a race on sunday. Because then people can get to know the track alot better and try to improve times etc etc like on midlands series and races like that.
that sounds good but, there maybe a few people who might not be able to make it on both days "travelling costs, keeping the missus happy"..:rolleyes:but if the practice on the sat was optional then that would be cool.............ive just got my corporal promotion on my profile....."everyones a winner"
i dont think many people would really benefit from having practice the day before, the club is open all of the time to members so you can get as much practice in as you want. It would also mean that we would need marshalls on both days - people work a lot of saturdays and also would need official members such as fish, ben and they both work a lot of saturdays. The last race was on a saturday i know but you also have to think about the clearing up etc involved. At the last race the clearing up was pretty much sorted on the sunday where as if it was a weekend jobby there would be no time to sort the site out before monday when work starts again.
May be considered but as it is only a small event i really dont think that it would help as much as it would cause a problem.
