Nothing official!! on related note tho, got awsome idea's for race shirts that everyone has been harking on about for years... just need to draw them up!

will endevour to do so in next few days!!

Baker

There is only a selected number of the members who race, there are the odd few who have started just recently, Rob Cook for one anf i know there are others interested. There isnt a RATZ RACE TEAM as such but if you were to race we are more than happy for the competitor to put the club name/RATZ on the 'Club/Sponsor' part of entry forms.

I think jerseys would be a good idea but we'd need to have a select amount of people who are dedicated to racing and will enter! Other wise there is no point in putting money into the jerseys. Fragy had come to a final design which everyone agreed on i think but because no one put their name forward for one it went no further, so maybe this is time to get people putting a definite order in? Then we may be able to have a designated team?

Or in the mean time if you want to race with the club/website on your jersey, do as i am arranging and get it printed onto your jersey at the local printing shop. I know of one that can do them in Gainsborough if you want the contact details but i will not arrange other's to be done.

Get up the hill as much as possible, everyone will lend a helping hand up there.

Get on as many different uplift weekends as you can so you get a good idea of all the different types of tracks

Achieve competitive times on the tracks.

Enter a small regional race then get onto the bigger races!

c2crider
13-03-08, 22:50
How about also putting some jerseys on the merchandise section of the forum. I'm sure that some of us crap riders would like one just too look the part... (ie me :D:D)

14-03-08, 18:03
err does that mean i get a jersey

Pweety pwease

Cookie
14-03-08, 18:11
Yea I've just started racing after 2 years going to the hill and its awesomme! XD If people are interested just get to the hill as much as possible and also Caersws, Hamsterly or Molfre weekends! I found they help you so much and a lot more technically hard than the hill. If you are serious about a NPS or a regional/Down 'n' out/Caersws cup race you need to get plenty of practice at other places ;) Also my first two races were made a hell of a lot easier by the best line choice maker in the world (Baker) and best fireman officer/mechanic/paramedic/photographer in the world (Kenny B) giving support to me and giuding me. But non of you lot will have them to help you so ha! ;)

And we really need to sort out the jerseys! At Hamsterley there was a number of rgoups with club race jerseys and it looks well smart!!

Baker

I think having non-racers with the jerseys would be a bit pointless really? Maybe Tee Shirts for the non racers to still have the club name etc on their person.................?

You wear jerseys when your not racing ;)

c2crider
14-03-08, 20:49
C'mon Baker, mortals can buy the seven stanes freeride jerseys, so why cant we just have them so long as we didn't wear them at races?

Im sure people would pay for them!!

Hahahah very funny, i'll come fully decked out in the pure white Animal Commencal set then ;)

I guess if jerseys were for team members only, it would be something to aspire to... But some merchandise in the form of tee's, hoodies etc would be good, just to represent!

Fo shizzle.

Baker
14-03-08, 21:03
Yeah i see where you are all coming from, i just mean that there is no point paying full wack for a jersey made up for a team-like set up which shows the team site etc. and only wearing it as a weekend jersey!?

Maybe a discussion in a separate thread?

I see your point Baker, and if your looking at getting jerseys made i found this...

http://www.thecyclejersey.com/

not sure what the prices are like though.

Baker
14-03-08, 21:13
Yeah that place could be an idea but Fragy found a place nearby i think that would do them with names on the back and all the team logos etc. which seemed like a good idea, there were some real good prototypes drawn up too but the thread just petered away and we couldnt reach a conclusion. We also needed a minimum of 10 people.............

c2crider
14-03-08, 21:18
Someone start a Ratz Race Jersey's thread or something...

IMafizzleI
14-03-08, 21:20
I'd buy one to frame it? I have a lack of trophies in my room... I actually considered buying a few :P

But Baker with the jerseys like, they should be a reward for being on the team, it takes away the "specialness" if every Joe Blogg has em ;)

c2crider
14-03-08, 21:23
Yeah, your probably right. I was just thinking that it could be a good income for the club

IMafizzleI
14-03-08, 21:25
Yeah without a doubt, it would look smashing having a couple of RATZ hoodies whizzing up and down Fort William :P With posh jerseys for the chosen ones!

Baker
14-03-08, 21:50
If we were to get someone to make the jerseys there would be no available profit involved for the club as the buyer would be paying the company direct.

c2crider
14-03-08, 21:52
Ok I get it now, cheers people:D

Hatchleader
15-03-08, 00:26
Why not find out the price for the jerseys, people who want em pay up front with a fiver added on that goes to the club?? also this means that people can have their money back if there arn't enough to make it feasable.

as for who gets to wear them:i can see bakers point about race riders but is there any point limiting it when (as far as i know and please correct me if i'm wrong) none of the regular racers up the hill are regularly challenging for high spots. i think the majoity are just racing for fun. i dont think any rider is contending for sponsorship or anything close so why can't everyone have em?? its not like anyone is sponsored by RATz so it would just be to show your support for the club, and if its a fiver a shirt for the club the more the merrier.

sorry if i put anyones backs up i don't intend to ;)

IMafizzleI
15-03-08, 10:26
That's a few fair points there. I guess money for the club is a good idea and i have to admit it would look smart if everyone zipping round the hill had something RATz related.

c2crider
15-03-08, 13:37
Finally someone who sees my point of view. If you could order them, racers could get them at shop rate, (eg no profit) and us non racers could pay an added £10 or summat. It's more income for the club afterall!!

disfunkti
15-03-08, 14:17
thecyclejersey are expensive, it's about £45 a pop.
Your best bet is to buy plain mx jerseys in bulk on ebay(some go for as little as £4 each for oneal and thor)
Then find someone who will do the printing cheap(usually the hardest part) i have managed to get cost down to as little as £10/15 per jersey in the past.

With regards to t shirts and hoodies, spreadshirt (http://www.spreadshirt.net/en) are still a good option, but if you are wanting to make a profit by adding commission to each item then their pricing may be a little high.
But as a solution to getting merchandise out there quickly, it will cost you nothing to design or sell the clothes.
You can add your own designs and even have customer personalized products, like the personalized hoodies we offer.
Heres our spreadshop...

15-03-08, 18:45
with the cycle jersey it would be £32 for a custom shirt with a minimum order of 15! this is minus vat and add on for club but i think you'd be looking at about £40- £45 all in!

fragy
16-03-08, 15:01
The problem we had last time was the minimum amount of shirts to be ordered was quite large and the first batch would cost more as the design side of it has to be paid for and also the ADVANCE payment has to be paid by the person who puts the order in. I will start to look into it again if we can get a list of people who would be willing to pay about £35-£40 for a original RAT'Z design freeride come race shirt. Don't think you can just have people who race having the shirts, as to race costs a great deal of money which not all members can afford but perhaps the racers could have a team number on the back? Let me have your ideas

c2crider
16-03-08, 15:06
Sounds like a good idea, I'd pay £40 if it was good. The numbers idea sound like a good one too.

zakk54
17-03-08, 20:07
What happend to the purple and orange ones tom put on?

Baker
17-03-08, 20:10
So we have around 8 people with their name down so far.

The purple and orange ones were only tee shirts not jerseys

c2crider
17-03-08, 20:15
How about getting a prototype made up, or a sample, because no offence Baker but you diagram really confuses me!!

Will the shirt feature any sponsors logos, such as kingfisher building or anyone like that?

zakk54
17-03-08, 20:15
Dad will buy me a jearsey *fingers crossed*

ill get myself one of those puple tee shirts if you are still selling them

Baker
17-03-08, 20:20
c2crider, print the picture off and fold it in half horizontally, then you'll see what its about............ godddd it isn't that hard to understand ;)

A prototype as such would be too hard and cost too much to produce, if it was not decided as the one to use it would be money wasted.

The Tee shirts were never for sale Zakk, they were just an idea as all of the other tees etc have been as we have never got round to production etc. yet!

c2crider
17-03-08, 20:22
Ok Ok, Baker Cut some slack for those of us who are brain dead!!!

yes i'll have one and i no jamie will to.

Baker
17-03-08, 21:07
Ohh so were up to about 10 now.......... FRAGY  YOU ABOUT ANYWHERE :D

So now we need to come to a conclusion on the members/racers jerseys, i know the regular racers/people who have raced are;

Me
Rob
Kenny B (my dad)
Ben
Fish
Fraser

Sorry if i have missed anyone out, had a mind blur when i tried to think!
What would we do on the back for the racers? Name and then ''RATZ RACER 1.........2.......3.........'' and so on?

And for members just the name across the shoulders?

Cookie
17-03-08, 21:13
Yea I tihnk numbers for the people more likely to race is fair! And everyones name across shoulders would look really smart! But i tihnk it would be a little tricky who got which numbers? I think the only person who has deserved to have number 1 is Fish.... Other people have a random number of their choice?

"Fish the King" ;)

Fwogddy
17-03-08, 21:14
Oyyyyy why ain't i on the list
granted i ain't raced in over a year now, but still haa

I think something like "MIKEY RATZ RACER 9" or something is abit much for shoulders, especially for us smaller folk.

What about like "MIKEY #9" or something with the RATz logo under it?

Baker
17-03-08, 21:15
Yeah i very much agree that fish gets the number 1, i would choose 2 as its my birthday but i think if it was for people who deserve the ''ranking'' it should go to ben for the king of the hill result etc........................

Baker

I think using purple splats would be straying from the club colours too much....?

Rick Brown
03-04-08, 14:58
its got nothing to do with colours thats personal preference were not Hells Angels, pink, green, blue, red you can have whatever you want so it can match your bike/shorts/helmet whatever.

Baker
03-04-08, 19:19
Hmm i'm not sure, i think that the idea is to get a batch of one design, all identical other than the name on the back obviously. Having personal colours for each different design wouldnt be possible as the cost that Fragy put forward was for one off design cost and then the cost per jersey.

If it was a team jersey to match each person's bike colour it'd be better off not bothering, just getting a transfer of the club logo onto your current jersey, this will then rule out the ''i dont want my jersey covered in sponsors'' etc... sorry to only use your quote rick, but it backed up what i was saying easily off the top of my head.

Hope that makes sense!

At the request of MR Fish....

RATZ Clothing Shop (https://350558.spreadshirt.net/en/GB/Shop/Index/index)

The current designs are very basic, i haven't had time to make up any designs to use so feel free to send me some over and I'll pick through them.
Vector images are better as they can be used on any color and type of clothing available.
Standard high quality images(jpeg, gif or png) are fine but they can only be applied to white t shirts and hoods, not really ideal for rides, but make good casual wear!
Send any designs you have to: rich@disfunktional-dirt.org.uk
I'll pick the ones that work best and add them to the shop.

Oh, and that race jersey was just a bit of fun, i doubt you would want to use it ;)
