I've not lived in Rasen long now, about 5 months or so, but as I was driving around tonight listening to Westwood's appauling Radio1 show, I noticed a rather large amount of wankers patrolling the streets.

I counted 12 licensed bars in the space of about an acre. This is why all the Rasen "yoof" are little gits.

I say get some floodlit northshore in the co/op car park, it certainly beats revving the engine on your 1992 1.0 litre Corsa B.

That is all.

It's not rough per se, just amazing how such a small town can contain so many idiots.

Half of the people standing on street corners chatting up 14 year old girls are older than me, surely Saturday nights could be spent doing something productive, like knitting.

my Dad has lived in rasen on and off all his life (78 years) and has always told me for as long as i can remember, if you want a fight or a f£$k on a Saturday night get yourself to Rasen! Only thing is, you dont have to go to Rasen now to find it cause its the same all over.

The Elton John song about "Saturdays Night's Alright For Fighting" was based on a pub in Rasen :) I'd sooner go to Lincoln, less interbred.

I lived in Newcastle for a bit when I was younger, nothing to do up there but drink the brown stuff :P

The further north you go, the shabbier things get I reckon :)

The East and West marsh in Grimsby are amongst the most deprived areas in the country.

ha ha ha, great find Baker, loved the bit about scuMthorpe!

Park springs is meant t be pretty rough, used to know a cop who worked on that estate and he said it was pretty tough, but isn't Gainsborough meant to be on the up?

I'm not making out i'm hard done by living in Rasen, on the contrary it has it's moments where it's a nice little town to live in.

All I was getting at was that it's got some right little wannabe hardcore year 9's. Makes me giggle to be honest.

not saying its not but toddle to the estate's of mixenden or illingworth just outside halifax... rough as a badgers bum and twice as dangerous. but even in my parents sleepy village of rishworth we had 2 cops shot a couple of years back and a body was dredged from a local reservoir just after chrimbo... and dont even get me started on Bradford (5 miles down the road!!)

i'm not starting a points system on which places are rougher, but when you realise that Grimsby is if fact more Northern than the likes of Sheffield and maybe even Manchester and you see first hand (by working up and down the whole country) and by living in Grimsby and knowing the estates and what goes on in them, it just makes your statement about rough northern towns seem a little limp, thats without even bringing the dock area into the mix,

Anyway, i've still got your mtb dvd's (trying to bring the forum back on topic) and have not seen you up the hill for a while, hows it going?

Grimsby = Most violent town/city in england per head of population, also the highest teenage pregnancy rate. Has been for years. Not that its anything to be proud of. So if you want a guarenteed fight and a f**k ;)
If you want dog rough.... Grimethorpe.. ex mining town and the only place i have felt uneasy. And ive lived in a few rough places (manchester/ipswich/doncaster).
But what has changed since i where a lad? nothing i think other than its can make front page news these days.. sad.. yups!

This is the proper site for it, its a discussion about rough towns in the "off topic" section, whats wrong with having a discussion on here thats not about bikes?

Atleast the towns are named pretty aptly with names like "grimesthorpe" and "grimsby"!

If this is the wrong place to put this thread, then I apologise, however it seems to me that it is the right place.

If "chit chat" isn't welcome, just get shot of this section of the forums.

got to admit grimsby does live up to its name! Horrible place. the reason i am so defensive of northern towns is because i am sick of folk off the st giles housing estate saying their hard.

Yes mate i am good! hoping to get up the hill more soon... possibly with a new bike in tow! will let you know when so we can sort out those dvd's. hows tricks with you?
