whilst on holiday I had got to hire a bike from drumlanrig, and thought it was worth a mention as it has some really nice trails. I know there aren't many xc riders on here, but if your ever in the 7stanes area with some time to spare this place is well worth a look.
The red route is used for the national Scottish xc series, and mbuk and mbr have held "big days out" there in the past. The red route is 10 miles of technical singletrack, with fire roads interspersed for a bit of a break. After the initial climbing sections there are some very nice rooty descents with views over the river Nith, with north shore bridges over waterfalls and stuff. The trail is hand made, and in my opinion gets much better once all the climbing is done. The ten miles is full of views and took me around two hours. There is also a much longer black route, which is 26km of trail, pretty much the same in technical difficulty apparently. There are also blue and green routes for the nivice.
The castle also has a bike shop, which does hire, repairs and sales, run by the guy who designed the trails, and built most of the original trails in Mabie forest. Theres also a cafe and other castle like features etc.

Well worth a look if your in the area.
Anyone else been, or have any trail write ups or recommendations?
