pretty much anything is rideable on a hardtail!!!!! all u need is a bit o' balls (and ankles). im not sure how far away sheffield is from leeds, for wharncliffe?
its a fair way when u dont have a car.. i dont know sheffield at all so it would be a trauma tryin to find my way to the trail from train station
im an urban rider and dh/freeride is a totally different ball game.. i think i would need a full sus to start with just to get the techniques dialled..
i only ride urban because i live in leeds center and havent got a car so there aint much else i can do round here :(

well, i dont know leeds at all, all i know is the way to the orbit and back to the motorway again, but the orbit shut a few years ago now.
A lot of people rave about riding around the uni.
or you could check out dan cassidy and his gang, i think they mostly seem to be from the leeds area
Project Leeds (http://www.projectleeds.com/index.htm)
they organise races at hamsterly and have been trying to arrange a race at wharnecliffe.
i would have thought there would be tons of riding to be had near leeds as its pretty hilly out there;)
yea the uni is a good place to ride but im looking for dh stuff to ride near leeds.. the uni is mainly trials and street stuff
as far as i know there isnt any dh to ride thats worth travelling for in leeds.. i know of a few spots but its just not worth it.. you could get more of a thrill using a new toothbrush for the first time

try this link....
Temple Newsham DH (http://www.mtbleeds.co.uk/temple_newsam_page.php)
i know the track its just down the road from me - its mainly for bmx really and very small.. 2 drops (a whole 1ft each!! omg!) 2 berms (no height to them at all) and rest is little tabletops ( _/''''''''''''\_ ) - more for kids than anything else really
i think i just need to get my ass on a train once in a while and go look for spots - the only problem is i get lost easy!
any of you guys be able to direct me to hamsterly from leeds city centre?
