I thought to improve my fitness and power, i would take my ht to the local bmx tracks.
Thats where i hit a problem. Whilst we have the land sorted for a track here in GY and the dirt has been poorly shaped, things are progressing very very slowly.
So where is the next local bmx track?
I know theres one in Hull and Harworth and Chesterfield and sheffield infact theres quite a few in Sth Yorkshire but are there any a little closer to home?

And anyone fancies a trip around a few of the above mentioned?

ooh not sure, one in lincoln but its been wrecked by locals, i think a 4x trip would be a good idea then i can take my BMX.

i think the indoor dream at sheffield has closed down, gravity slaves will probably be a good place to try

there's a small one at gainsboro,it looked a bit overgrown but had a clear line for one :fu: and by the look of the place it would be a good idea to go as a group :D ,i'll make some enquiries as to what state its in ;)

I was hoping for one a bit nearer;)
If i was to travel over 1 hour, bolehills (sheff) looks like the place to be...

I might take myself over there one weekend if youre intrested ben/anyone.
Sadly indoor dream has closed, a while ago too :(
but something else is rumoured to be in the pipeline :) so good luck to SDS

the one in gainsborough is rubbish! I used to take my BMX there untill i sold it to get some bits for my DH and the jumps are too close together to properly clear them and a lot of gypos hang round there so it is a risk but there is one in new walthem grimsby again a bit overgrown but fun.

[Threads Merged]
Theres an unfinished bmx track in new waltham (note A not E)
there are a few jumps on the park at waltham (not a track)
theres a few jumps at scartho top, and theres GYPOs.
Last time i was at waltham jumps, they where s**t neglected and frequented by under age cider drinkers. oh yeah, and jim broke his wrist there too

Did a little tour yesterday:
Haxey - I wont waste my time writting anything about this.

Harworth - Some big scary doubles, bigtabletops, big berms, quite a good course really.Just needs a little maintenance (puddles at the bottom of a few take off's, water gullys running down berms etc etc..
I'll be back for sure.

And i make it all the way around (much to my suprise), suffered jelly legs in the end though.

I used this bmx track locations (http://www.extremesports.ltd.uk/wheretoride/index.htm) to find tracks local to me (Sheffield).

As I recall:

Harworth - large track in all senses of the word
Hexthopre - not far behind Harworth size wise and long
Bolehills - Long standing track with proven history.
Kimberworth - WTF...uphill track for the majority
Chesterfield - Downhill all the way with big step ups on each str8.
Wincobank - The most fun track here...small but awesome ! + on the way to Bolehills
Edlington - Small and in the same lines as winco. (very near Steetly)
Warsop - (Didn't get there)

enjoy :hombre:

thanks m8.
Wow! dony council have been busy with the concrete :)
All that was there when i lived in dony was the track at cantley.. lucky for me it was 100m from my house :)

Anyway, i feel another trip comming on this sunday.. if anyone fancies it?
Rotherham and winco bank i reckon.
But then again.. sooo close to wharncliffe... hmm... dilema.

There is also a bmx track finder on bradfordbmx website, that looks pretty good.

how many bikes does your bike rack hold, how about a DH/4x day i could bring my BMX and stab and lighten the petrol load ;)

Not a hope...
My car starts to makes funny noises with 2 people/2 dh bikes :(
had 3 people 2 dh bikes and a ht and it sounded terrible, luckily it wasnt far.
i would maybe get away with 3hardtails and 3 people.
No way i would try to carry more.
Besides, i dont fancy leaving the yeti in the car when at the bmx tracks and certainly wouldnt leave my curtis in the car at wharncliffe:w00t:

Quick update on the New Waltham BMX track in Grimsby..
Some of you may have been past this, its visible from the A16 on the outskirts of New Waltham.

Well, the ownership problems have finally been sorted out, and the council have accepted reponsibillity for the land. Some funding has been established (more needed) so there should be some action happening soon, and hopefully the track will be finished in 2006
Word to the GYPO Committee for the patience and dedication they have shown in securing the venue and making it all happen.
