As some may know sime and i did a mini road trip today to two fantastic bmx tracks, both totaly different to each other and both fun to ride, i would highly recomend it to anyone who wants a laugh, get fit, improve jumping, cornering and manual skills.

:? Winko :? bank (correct spelling?)

We went here first, if youve ever been to wharncliffe you may remember see a bmx track close by off the motor way, this was it,. luckily the rain held off, first impressions were good (we hadnt been to rotheram yet :filthy: ) a slight descent on the track with countless lines to take, hip jumps into berms, whoops,, you name it, and its do able on a full sus rig quite easily and Ryan and Tony (locals) demon straighted throwing aroung a fully kitted out demo 9 mmmmmmmm. You can spend a good few hours here and not get bored its a chalky surfaceand so must drain quite well as i cant recall any puddles!

2nd stop almighty rotherham (probably spelt wrong :freak: )

this track is imense! berms that were easily 12ft high 18ft + table and countless doubles, woops after woops and a rather wierd but fun table top with a table top on top, a kind of step up step down and a little girl who totaly ripped the P*ss with a carbon troy lee. This track is not only big but long, wide and very tiring able to hold up to 8 people with a start gate. Going in to the home straight you dont have the legs to peddle but just about stand and let your bike do the talkin'. Sime dialed some cool manuals and really kept me on my toes (be warned any one riding in simes race keep clear or face certain damage :fu: ) very aggresive riding too :\ ) i was pretty chufed to to nail a triple woop in a manual.

All in all highly recomended, fun for all! :D

i think simes got some pics of micro wheel etc etc.... dont ask :p

Fully agree with Ben. Wincobank is a scream, although some of the tabletops are a bit short and easy to overshoot. But great fun and an excellent place for a mess around, even on full sussers.

Rotherham is host to a round of the regional bmx series and i think is a national standard track (although i dont know if it holds national races).
Excellent place to bump up fitness and style.
The two venues are about 10 minutes apart (if that).
Will drfinately be going back. Soon i hope (well rotherham next sunday).
Friendly people all round. And rotherham has appears to have a lot of skill in some of its young riders.

Looking forward to my next visit!

i have just been watching extreme sports with a 'tricks and tips' interview with Steve Peat showing you how to corner banked turns (berms) half of the footage is to do with multi person racing in which Steve Peat demonstrates what to do and how to corner at Winko bank 4x track! i dont think the video footage does it much justace as the berms were huge in real life but seem so small on TV, then again he's riding his 2003 222 so a few alterations have been made since then!
