View Full Version : The Pro's you aspire too
Ok, so following Steve Peats victory at Fort bill, Greg Minaars over all Mens title, Barels UCI title, Sam Hills almost entirely devoted Dirt issue, Nathan Rennies consistant podiums, etc etc, it seems us 'hopefuls' have many top riders to aspire to, you could start the debate of whose the best, fastest, smoothest. At the end of a day we will all have a favourite rider, people we want to ride like, be assosiated with etc etc (even look and sound like :filthy: Cedric McKay :p :p ) I recon there will be a trailblazerz favourite, and following the limated 'chit chat' of the forum, i thaught it'd be cool for people to have a vote and leave there reasoning for there 'idle'
So, who has the 'X' Factor in youe eyes :freak: :fu:
gracia, always looks to be enjoying his riding. fast racer, mad freerider and likes a good party.
jay.
i know someone else who likes the Gracia
After some thaught, i rekon its a close call for me either SamHill / Gee Atherton, After reading this months DIRT mag Sam Hill seems like an average 'Joe' every day rider who does it all for the fun factor, and has hellish skills on two wheels that (i probably speek for my self now) we try and replicate and fale miserably to do it as smooth or as stylish as him.

a bit more practise maybe :\ :\
And Gee, well hes british can ride fast (world cup podiums to prove) and can huck as big as the Canadians :filthy: :D Awsome..
Not that much more practice Ben. My favorite has got to be Gracia ranked 3th best downhiller and 2nd best 4X rider last year. Lets say hes a pritty good alrounder.
Gareth Dyer's my favourite. he can huck, style it and has a bag of tricks as big as any dirt jumper. on top of that he can party as big as cedric and looks cool too.
My idols would have to be:
Darren Berrecloth - because his freeride skills.
Gee Atherton - Awesome at everything, good results in DH and 4X
well for me it has to be the man rennie. just for the fact he is up for everything. as those who have seen new world disorder 5 hes jump of seventy feet was awsome however. news just in.
read below. this is as good a reason as is needed for number one favourite.
Well unofficially we have a new record for distance jumped on a bicycle. This note from Nathan Rennie's father, Bruce, says everything that is known about the jump to date. Good work Nathan!
Nathan just rang from the Red Bull Jump Site in the Painted Desert of South Australia (not now called the Red Bull Mountain gap but a name to be decided) at 5:45 Australian Eastern Daylight Time with news of his 121 foot record jump. The jump has been classed as "unofficial" by the Guinness Book of Records because of the crash on landing which has prevented any further attempts at this time.
Nathan was towed in by a motorbike at 96 km/hr (60 mph) and piloted his Santa Cruz V10 Downhill Mountain Bike the 121 feet from ramp to landing. He flat landed the front wheel and "blew up" three quarters of the way down the landing ramp. Nathan separated his shoulder and smashed his prized Troy Lee full face helmet, as well as sustaining cuts and bruising to most of his body.
However, Nathan is elated with his effort and feels the setup could be used for much bigger jumps in the future.
After viewing the raw film footage, Nathan and the Red Bull crew were stoked with the jump, and are looking forward to putting together the half hour package for Red Bull on free to air T.V.
on the dirt mag website and found this pic, its Rennie jumping 90ft, now thats a gap jump!

My fav rider is probs Gee atherton becuase he is a all around very good rider and hes Mad!
I think Brendan Fairclough is a cool guy. I think he is only about 18 and he is already gettin podiums at big races and he is all over the mags
"Wade Boots" fat and old(ish) but still a killa, providing hope for us all in our senior years :fu:
some of you may have seen his face in the latest "Dirt" and wondered who the fu......is kevin Schwantz, MOTOGP GOD or Gp 500 back then, the man is a total inspiration for his courage in the face of adversty, racing with injuries etc and for his determination to be world champ, dispite having a wank bike that handled like it was hinged in the middle:D he made it eventually in 1993 but the shite bike really cost his health and he had to retire in 1995,great bloke by all accounts,an inspiration to me back then and also now,for me it would be good to see him involved with mountain bikes
:rez: :rez: :rez:
Its got to be gee his 19 an won ALL this:

A truly awesome rider.
