Hi i'm a newbie. I was in rasen bikes today and ben and the very nice lady told me about hamilton hill. I was just wondering if its ok for me to ride on sunday with a mate and was just wondering who'll be down there.
Welcome etc,always ready for new members,i've got work comittments this weekend(very unusual,but i'm feeling a bit of deadline pressure:cry: ) but i'm sure someone will be about,take care on the woodwork if its wet :w00t:

well kinda i found the turnin and stuff and went down the track a little way but i didn't have much time so had to turn back. hopefully see you tomorow

well here in Rasen it wont hold out, tipin it down at the moment, and has been showering all mornin, i couldnt really see anyone going up in this weather so i decided to have a 4x session on the PS2 instead :D :D downhill dominations great, i'm Eric Carter at the moment almost unloked Richie Schley :fu:
We got there at about 1:30 ish just as the rain stopped after what should be a 20 minute car journey took an hour lol. i wont go into detail though. We had a great time and the course is awesome, when we found it. didn't do any of the drops because we were loosing the back end just going down the hill and i injured me back the other day when i was trying to manual and lost control falling on me arse . we will definetly be back when its a bit dryer and me backs a bit better
What times anyone going to be there tomorow??? 10/11 o clock ???

but seeing as its scunny, you might be in casualty all afternoon. i'v never once played them without breaking a bone, usually my nose!:D

I want to get to the hill but under doctors orders i've been strictly banned from sports for a couple of weeks because i've messed my knee up playing rugby.:\
Grim :\ Daft Lad;) do your self a big favour and do exactly what the docs and physio tell you and don't confuse cycling for recovery with blasting down your local trails,it will cost you in the end....believe :( however i'm sure after an initial RnR trail building will be a good way to aid a speedy recovery :D get well soon Dave
The doc said two weeks and it nearly bin two weeks of intensive laziness but there's still loads of fluid near my knee cap. But i'm at the diabetes clinic tomorow so i'll get a doctor to poke it and prod it some more there and see what he says.
ask for a sports clinic referral,demand some treatment on the grounds you might go for a sports career etc etc blah.....NHS don't ask don't get :(
I don't know whats up with it as such, my mum works at a doctors surgery and asked a doctor and he told me to rest it for 2 weeks. My friend had a similar injury and his doctor said he'd popped a shock absorber in his knee. I'll see what the doc says tomorow though and hopefully see u next weekend.
The new section to the start ramp looks great. got to have a go on that. is it complete or are we just riding it like that for now untill another build day?
The start looks cool, i can't come up this week end doctors orders and my common sense :mad: because i had a little encounter with a door, so i cant get my helmet on. I'll just say that i have had 3 stitches in my eyebrow (Not that many but it's quite painful)

Unlucky for will and dave. ive had a knee injury and recently stitches in the face so know how you feel.

Looks like i'm out of proper riding for a couple more weeks although i am aloud to do some gentle riding, so when's the next building day? so i can get up to the hill
going to be up the hill tomorrow wont be a building day but if it dont rain tonight the trails on the shore side will be really good like today.
dont think weve met fragy but will see you up there tommorow at about 12. you riding with anyone else. Im praying it doesnt rain because ive not been on the north shore for 4 weeks now!!

not entirely sure matey. went into the 2nd of the two berms after KFC abit too quick and lost it comin out, not really sure what i caught it on pedal/tree etc but its abit of a mess. shoe and all other toes are fine - wierds. broke the same toe along with a couple of others 6months back, so didnt take much to do it again.

Yeah it was a good day at the hill on sunday. nice and dry anyway. There was only 4 of us there, Me, Steve, Matt and Fragy.
Fragy said youre a Lincoln lad! me and steve are from lincoln. Not much to ride there is there!
im in lincoln too. havent found much to ride yet, but if anyones up for showin us round give me a shout. might put a seperate post in hookups section.
There are a few places like the arboretum and gallery area with stairs and and a few wall drops. I think the only people who use the hill from lincoln are Me, Steve, Fish and You.
We would be quite happy to meet up in lincoln when the evenings get a bit lighter and do a bit of riding.

i know a great place to ride for practicing riding steep stuff and its right near town and it is super steep :eek: but consists of clay so its only doable after a couple of weeks of no rain etc
OOOH Where? There used to be a place on ***** ***** hill near **** school. That was steep. used to be called dead mans alley but i think theyve built houses on some of it now!
*sorry, yes your correct it had a few tweaks but was left until they had finished the houses at the bottom which they now have. its SSSI tho and very few people know its there ;) cheers Fish
Sunday 26th Feb me and James should both be up atthe hill. (maybe Friday too) My new bikes's looking a bit doubtful, I needed more bits and pieces than I originally expected and it's taking a bit of time to get it all together - I'm now in Birthday-present-deficit until 2007!!! If I do get it ready, you won't be able to see it anyway - It's as black as an F117 Stealth plane with added black bits. I actually went in my garage last night and couldn't find it.
will hopfully be up friday/sunday work depending if you need a lift. riden bits and bobs around the gallery, need to go down the arboretum. wait until it drys up abit.
I might be down on Sunday depends of lifts and things.

Me and my dad have been up today. The weather was quite good although there was some snow to start with. It was flippin freezing!!!! The trails were very slippery but well ridable. I managed to do forktop lots of times but my dad wasn't riding due to lack of parts for the new frame. We will both be riding again on Sunday hopefully with both bikes or my dad will be riding mine.

Today was awsome. Built a new double after the steep rollin and finished the rollin too. the double is sweet. There wasn't much riding going on because there wass a lot of rain last night and the tracks were covered in crap! There were quite a few there too: Me, My dad(kenny b), fish, Fraggy, Ben, Matthew(not sure of last name?),Jay DH, Simon and Justin. It was a very good day then over all especially for the wetter season.
How is the new double - I had to leave before you guys finished it. Did it ever get dry enough to ride?

where abouts is the new double? is it down the tresspass trail side?
No, near the start ramp. Its of the right of the start Tower, a new line going directly down the trail towards KFC
do you get to it straight from the angled start ramp? sounds good anyway. is it as big as the two doubles at the bottom of the tresspass trail? did any one take photos for the site?
i've got a couple of flics. will be emailing them fish later on tonight after resizing etc in photoshop. couple of riding ones from sat aswell.

Weekend of 25th 26th March - The Baker boys should be up both days
Sunday 26th - trails a bit slippy in places woodwork all dry. Got the big new jump near the start decked. Fish and James (Baker)both did it several times. Even frightening a couple of members of the public!!! It looks enormous. loads of air, loads of speed, loads of distance.
I love it very well built and purty darn scary. The riding was awesome other than trespass and most of the dirt was very slippery but all in all a great days riding!
it was a very productive day and again with a bit of effort and few people you can make rapid progress :D it certainly looks very tidy and very solid,i used 3" timbers for the landing deck :devil: and 6"x3" supports(stringers).
it was great to ride and like Baker says is well scary,and was nice to note that my hands were shaking before my first go :eek: top bombing :devil: its big enough to feel a bit of "hang time" as well :devil:
despite the gloop i had a great time :tune: :yeah: :tune:
The hand shaking got me too lol. It was even worse when the tyres were on the ground!!!

That looks awesome everyone should be able to roll it atleast and now the public definately can't complain. Whats in the pipe line featurewise after the new drop and has a name been established for it?

It looks OK, i think the aaaaaw factor of the sheer drop is kinda gone, it would be nice to still have the drop distance that it was as it was a progression from the other stuff and something to progress in terms of size, although i think looking at the pics you could clear the wood on a good day into the bottom of the bowl, it just feels like weve hit a barrier of around forktop size and not increased, i hope you see my points as valid and not a rant!

this is right next to a public right of way,1st the fc wouldn't be keen on a verticle drop that you could accidently wonder on to (despite the signs etc there's always one) and fall off the end. its still a big drop and "you" will clear that landing,i used your tyre marks as a guide,your previous landings are in the middle of the deck,so with a bit more effort you should clear it no probs,however us lesser mortals can just go nice and steady and not see our knee's explode on the flat landing that was :eek:

:hu: i think you need to dredge your memory and think about plans that have previously been discussed,however these features will not be built in an area which comes under scrutiny from "not in my back yard, Joe public" ;)
it would be nice to still have the drop distance that it wasalso i have to keep in mind what the FC engineer said about the size of vertlce drops, a very light weight 1.5m :hu: hence the roll down and landing which i've made as close to the ground as i can and still have some sort of tranny,if ya want big and flat go off the left hand line off the side of shallow graves ;)

bit of a problem though... i havent got my membership card yet, no doubt waiting for a cheque to clear!

I'm psyched for Sunday with Ova de Barz and another Sheffield guy. I've only been when it's been really really wet before so it'll be nice to have some better conditions.
Will be a bit of a learning curve though - two of us are on bikes we've only owned for a few days. Just got a Big Hit and it's going to ride pretty different to my Patriot 66.
So there's quite a few down then. :D i'll definetly be down most of the day then putting my new items thorugh there paces

Today was really good fun although the weather was crap! We got a few hours good riding in and me and my dad only had the one bike between us! Thank you fish for the goes on your bike! The weather was good for practice but i would definitley expect better this time of year!
Yeh have to agree, got a couple of hours good fun mud riding in. but also got soaked through to the bone rather quickly
if the weather stays reasonable this Sunday there will be some visitors from Sheffield and Nottingham and maybe a remote chance Col and his mates from Wales as well,it should be a good laugh :D

no joke mate, cant remeber his name but he was from nottingham an had a few-year old kona stinky, bust his shoulder up so he couldnt ride for the rest of the day.

Alright fella's, it was my mate Al who had the crash!!.. He's OK I think - he was at work Monday and he's a plasterer so mus'nt be too bad. He's gonna get some body armour now though!! He's also just bought some 888's to go on his stinky so he'll be back - soon hopefully too, as we had a great time on Sunday.
Sounds nasty! I think me and my dad are there on sunday for sure! I am getting my forks back from TFtuned tomorrow and a brake on saturday so it should be all good! Anyone else there?

i should be there sunday too, but i could be off to pick up a road bike. If you are at gypos ben, give me a call... i might pop over there for a bit. Whilst your at gypos, why not try the trin park too (5min ride away). not too sure on what is required to ride but some of the gypo lot should be able to tell ya.
OK ;) i dont know now wether it'll be saturday or sunday i'll be at gypos either way i'll let you know, if they decide to go sunday i might come up woods instead.... anyway enough of that, dont want to mess up the thread ;)

i should be up for about 11.00 it was pretty hot yesterday,so don't forget to bring plenty of fluids etc :D and don't forget your mozzi spray ;)
Today was a scorcher although very fun! There was a lot of dust on the berms looking great! There were loads of people there too a few guys from Grantham and a guy from louth along with me fish ben simon mark craig i think it was paul? and i didnt get one of craig n paul n marks mates names but oh well lol he was there too! Hopefully have a few more days like this agauin soon

it certainly was a great day today with 20 riders passin thro, loads of sun shine,dusty trails and a good atmosphere,what more could you ask for............................................... mmmmm perhaps the total eradication of every biting insect in the world maybe :D
There seemed to be super mutant mozzie's attacking from all over the place. But some very good riding to be had, TTT was uber fast, ther shore side of the hill was uber fast too but i think i only made 2 runs down that side, the fun was to be had on TTT though, super smooth and the newly filled in divet works a treat and u can really pump the section before the patio jump now
well whilst you were riding your bikes i was sunburnt under a gazebo in grantham reading an article on seagulls.

Yep. Back wheel right at the top of the tranny and that was jump pumping through the section before. Fish was just flying it everytime and Ben was throwing in a few 1 handers over it

yeh quite a while that last sections a bit rough on a hardtail so i've never had a really nice run in, but now that last divets been filled in and the tracks been ridden, its starting to feel really smooth.:devil:

I was only just clearing it before the holes were filled so if it means that alot more people can enjoy it and have fun on full sussers and hardtails then it can only be a good thing.

this issue was discused with several people including yourself,every one except you said it would be better not to have the pond, its still a big challenge and as you havn't even ridden it yet i don't think your in a position to criticise.i moved forword with this after i specificly asked you about it and your comments were and i quote "i don't give a fcuk what you do, i've got my own line in" so based on that market research i got on with it.
We've got plenty to think about concerning the future,so lets not spend so much time negatively looking back.
Plus to make it more of a challenge people could start to pull tricks off it so there is something else to aim for!

Just wondering if anyone's planning on going up the hill on Sunday 25th. I know some of you may be in Scotland riding up at the Fort, but i was just wondering instead of going up on my own and limiting myself to what i can ride because i'm the only one up there.
ill beg my dad for a lift davey my lad, heel probabaly give in and take me if i say he can watch
Na sorry guys im off paintballing on sunday with one of my mates, and visiting grandparents on saturday! :( but it has to be done.

well it was a good day untill i came of fishs bike and then my own. rather more my own though. Fcuked up hanger need a few new spokes. but the mech still looks useable. but then again i like the look of sram x7. so...... i'll be spending a bit of money probably

I jumped patio then i think my mech snapped and i flew over the bars at the speed you come of patio at and smacked my head. Feel ok now though.

was a great day riding! until it started raining...hard
What was TTT like? Becuase its rained all weekend so i bet it was fun having drifts round the corners etc.
wet & puddley for the top part after the little wood but where it starts to get steep it was good though, except for after the patio landing where si managed to slip out;)
the new line was extreamly stodgey aswell
Sounds purty sketchy! I hate the lincolnshire dirt compaired to the scottish and welsh, it all stinks!!!!!!!

the sunday after the bbq was a pretty amazing day as well :D Daz Squirrel popped over from sheffield with 10 of his mates making a total of 19 riders on the day we also took £75 in membership fee's ;) and it was sunny all day long :devil: rounding off a pretty perfect weekend ;)

Great day today! Trails were nice n dry and everyone looked to have a great time! The speeds looked great too!

Me and my dad should be up some time, all depends on what time i get up really what time!!! I think a bit of building may be in plan although all the wood was down at the FC office last time i heard so it might be all of the lugging tomorrow and building in the week and next weekend!!!

Sunday 31st - New Years Eve
Dry and cool with a bit of occasional sunshine. Tracks wet and horrible but rideable after a bit of raking and puddle scooping - any way - good practice for forthcoming winter series races where you have to put up with whatever the weather does to the track. A lot of the wood work is real green and slippery but the parts with chicken wire are OK. Woodstock in particular was rideable. OOPS! Did I just accidentally mention that I did WOODSTOCK!!!!
YEEHAH!!!! Yes - with only 3 hours of daylight left in 2006 I finally achieved the challenge I set myself in January ie to nail Crater at the top of the hill and Woodstock at the bottom in 2006. Thanks to Craig and James for encouragement and speed advice on the day and Fish a couple of weeks ago when I did Crater and nearly did Woodstock.

Your rapidly catching me up, hmmm i'll have to nail you in the next race :rolleyes: it was a great days ride, could really drift the corners and the sludge was only on the surface so there was plenty of grip underneith, also i think our newest member Jordan (Sombrio Boy) came up for a ride and he seemed to enjoy it!!!

Yer i have to sort out lifts but aslong as its not a mud fest I definetly want to get up there and ride as i eventually have a weekend without rugby and other commitments :devil:

Brilliant days riding today, warm, sunny, trails dry enough to be fast but wet enough to slide about on.
The new trail also rules, spent all day sessioning it, bedding the ground in and exploring the lines. Watch this space, this trails going to be a good one:D
like Dean says,what a fantastic day,you wouldn't have thought it was a february day :D the slight wettness lead to some epic drifts on the off cambre sections of the new trail,just ask Danger "rooster tail" Dean :devil:

Sunday (4th March) was a bit wet, but we put a couple of new features and did some tweaking on the new track before it hammered it down. Riding's heavy going at the moment but better than not riding at all. The worst problem with most of our trails is that they all need a good raking. Come on lads, if we get the leaf mould off soon we'll have fast dusty tracks all summer and less mud problems next winter.If eveyone who rides the hill just spends half an hour on trail maintenance, we'll have it cracked.

I'd love to help you guys on a sunday kenny but I'm afraid I have to work, but now the nights are getting lighter I/we can make it up there on a wednesday evening about 14:30 is that ok.
Yer, i thought about getting a good team effort on the trails to get them all good for days to come!
Rick.. you could do it on the saturdays your are up if you wanted to help.... just contact fish and im sure he'll be happy to let you know where the rake is! I would pm you but i cant remember :confused:

Yer I dont mind, we was up there today for about 4 hours had some good riding. Just looking around the place it needs quite a bit of work there is a lot of pot holes and the runs have big wheel furrows in them form being wet all the time,maybe need a bit of back filling or sumut.We was looking for a rake because there was also a lot of small branches/large twigs from the wind and while we was there we pick some rubish up. Thats awesome news charlotte!!! Thats one of the hardest drops up there i think cos it has a down sloping drop! The others are just bottle things... psycologically difficult, you'll have it all soon!!

Dont worry, my mum said that to my dad before i broke my elbow, after that she gave him an odd look but nothing came of it! After my wrist she just gave up and that was the end of the "if james brakes anything you will die for it" :D hehehe!

ermm.. i dont know to be honest, i would like to be able 2 do the mini wall. I tried on sat and it didn't go so well, but practice makes perfect :p and bunny hops, it's not at the hill but i cant seem to get my head round how you lift up the back end!!!! :( :?

try twisting the grips forward as you release the compression,so you like roll your wrists forward as you take off ;)

try pulling back on the bars, then when you get it comfatabley high throw your weight forwardn (not too much, dont wanna faceplant ;))

I'll be up there about 11ish
supposed to be excersising it :D all the swellings gone down and i can move it freely
as i said, im mainly up there for some footage / some snaps / to get outta the house
if i do ride atall my arm with be padded to the max, and non of the wood ' jumps ;)
I would just like to say that my dad did the wall today. Not very high but did well for his first attempt at both of them :D Well done :D cool-a-mondo!!! Also my brother Zakk did the see-saw but not today :D i believe rep power should be heading my dad's way soon ;) lol
i'm going to be there from around 10 as we've got the Squirrel gang coming over from Sheffield for some shredding :devil:
