Does anyone no of any descend XC routes around here,
I've been on the top of the wolds and snaped my drop out, it was pritty good there. Any where else.
 :yfu:
Well, for anyone feeling adventurous there is a lot to be had from the wolds in terms on downhill, xc loops and bridle way cycling. I know a few fun descents but dont know how familar you are with Surrounding villages etc.
If you were to head out from the woods towards Tealby taking the road through, heading towards the church the is a road on your left (catskin lane i think which takes you to Walesby) turn down there and cycle on the road, on your right there will be a working farm house with a bridle way running up to it. Follow the bridle way to the very top then take a turn on the right through a field. Once through the field you will come to another field in which there is some steep bumpy downhil (only short) but made pretty fun due to the rabit warrens acting as lauch ramps and drops aswell as a generous helping of HUGE rocks which make up quite a hefty drop but proves difficult to get onto.
OK, following this lane (to walesby) even further there is a bridle way going up the wolds i would recomend the push up as major speed can be gained over the catle grids :D . About half way up is a crossing for the Viking way, if you turn left into the field you will come across a very short but sweet, super steep descent but watch out for the bridge at the bottom :\ . I generaly pushed up to the houses then descended until the road, you can cross straight over the road at this pointn and follow a bridle way which will bring you out near enough at the Tealby raod enterance of the woods.
There are also a few good raod descents going through Walesby and Claxby (self Explanatory really were these are) i highly recomend the Claxby descent as it has quite a tight shikane half way down at the fastest point, best time for doing these road desctents are probably Sunday Mornings. Walesby down hill lasts for ages and goes from the very top of the wolds straight throughthe village before you even have to think of pedalling again. :fu:
Last last but certainly not least is the landrover practise tracks which local garage duckworths use aswell as a local race series for some off raod action, funnily enough it has a bridle way running straight through it :filthy: here there are short technical descents that are super steep and great fun to ride, if you go during winter you can often have a duel race, one person per landrover rut :D always fun around the tight off camber turns churned up by the landrovers. This field is right next to Walesby down a byway to a campsite fiarly hard to explain but if you were wanting to take an afternoon out up there im sure i can explain.
I havent done these routes for qyuite a while now so some may be overgrown changed, improved etc etc
Of course we would encourage your help up the woods on build days etc but the wolds are there for you to take advantage of (maybe an X-mas holiday thing  )
Ben
Ben the wolds sounds great for a n afternoon or morning ride over Xmas if you fancy showing me around. cheers Fragy
Yeh the wolds sound awsome. There looks to be a few tracks down them here and there but i don't know wheather they are private land
yea id be up for a ride around the wolds sometime over christmas (if i can shake of this latest bout of tonsillitis) like ben says theres some great riding to be had, if you know where to look for it.
the last time i was up at the walesby/claxby landrover track was june time with bowan. it was a bit overgrown but still lots of fun to be had once we got our bearings (especially the sandy bit, remember that one ben lol)
Ye i would like to see this landrover track. I dont know if its still in use it but its been around for years. Like ben said theres a few descents between Wealsby and tealby. Me, Ben, Jack and Nick went up a few years ago. Maybe we should do it again someday.
just for the record, its bowen ;)
but yeh the wolds are greater for dashing around, nice ups and downs, and nice scenery . Uve just gota be careful to avoid running into gates......:p
Yeah iv dont that in the past (lol)
Went on a really short ride earlier with a fairly long climb out of the village a pretty speedy short descent and some good singletrack, and i realised i've missed the feeling when u climb right to the top of the hill to bomb it back down another, really good and i think i might go on another tomorow bit longer this time though.
