View Full Version : Sunday Trailbuilding
hopefully we should have had a large shipment of timber delivered this weekend and we've got some 4x4 assistance(cheers Steve and Mark) so if you we're thinking of popping over on Sunday then please do as the help will make a light job getting it to the top :D
Yeah i think me and my dad will definately be there so we'll to some heaving. What are we building?
What are we building?
a nice neat timber stack all graded into different sizes at the top
Ok. I think we are trying to come earlier than usual so that way we can do building and quite a bit of riding too.
me and steve are getting there with the range rover and a big trailer for about 10 am. meeting at the main big car park at the bottom of the woods (willingham road end, near lay-by)
sadly won't be able to make it today - one of the kids is sick :( .
might be off work wednesday though if anyone else is likely to be around...
i apoligise for the no show, bet it was a fantastic day up there, the weather looks great, still not feeling 100% thaught it best not to risk going up, what was done? i guess a lot of riding in the sunshine!
There was a nice neat pile of timber assembled and yeah quite a lot of riding. It dried out quite a bit but was still slick in some areas.
In the morning it was horrible, i was filty muddy within 5 minutes of riding. But it dried out very fast and got better although in most places it was still super slippy which was good for Fish as he was in a sliding mood.
will be a northshore building day :D however there are some rule changes, you must pre-book and sign in on arrival and sign out when either your leaving or when work ceases, you also must bring a hard hat, work gloves and boots with you as any construction on site now comes under the health and safety at work act, however ground level dirt works and trail maintenance do not ;) and finally you must be a club member ;) so who wants to be part of the next northshore phase (start tower/crater to ft2) sign up
hhhmmmmmph somethings come up already so the build day is looking like it could be the following weekend  26th march i think its also the clock change weekend, british summertime begins :cgun:
YEAH, Let the sun come out and the many hours biking begin!!!!!
I probably won't be up. Rugby's started up again after a few weeks break and that weekend is my dad's birthday and mothers day and i think my brothers got a surprise planned
by hard hat I assume you ain't talking about a cycling helmet !
Mother's Day isn't going to work for me either I'm afraid. Have fun though!
ok back to the original plan sorry about the confusion  so sunday 19th march :D
I don't think mothers day will be a day for us eather becuase my mum needs us to do something with her desperately we have deserted her a bit just lately but soon it will be ok because the riding after school will start.
by hard hat I assume you ain't talking about a cycling helmet !
yes thats right a standard building site helmet ;)
Sorry about that me and you fish must have been typing at the same time. I think that will be fine as long as my dad is off
if you need some helmets fish let me know , not sure how many but can get some. probably some gloves too.
yeh my dad got a 2 hard hats thinking will needs one but he doesn't so 1 can be given to the club or if anyone needs one
AJ Embroidery in Louth (on the industrial estate - tel 01507 601021) will do a deal on workwear for members. Short peak hard hats for £3 plus VAT, workboots from £16-30 depending on makes (no VAT on workboots) and workgloves from around £3-16 plus VAT.
Hope this helps someone!
So if you need a hat
I can get up this weekend now, There's no rugby on so I'll be up with my hard hat at about 11ish

we're going to start a new flow section between the start tower and FT2 running thro the shallow crater
sounds good. will there be a drop in there or is it going to be smooth? or is it a 'see what we think of when we are there' build? cant wait to try out new stuff!

Yeah, it was great, I was amazed at how much work we did in like 4 hours!
just resizing the pics for fish now! was a super productive day. well done to everyone envolved.
Today was awesome. A crazy amount of work done by 8 of us in the time we did build. The club is 5 pounds richer and i'm back to the level of riding before i injured my knee. Alot was achieved today:)
just like he said, the weathers looking up too, now just waiting to see these pics and see just how big it looks, hows about a name!
It was a really good build day today. suprised how quick we all worked. i didnt ride the new nameless beast, its a goal for the next time im there. The photos i took look great, it looks really big. good photo of ben in mid flight. cant wait for another build to extend that section.

jAy.
That looks pretty cool (if a bit scary!). What is it - about a 5 foot drop?
Good work guys :)
2 metre 10 i think, so about 8.25' i guess the location is spot on and an awsome feature to keep you on your toes at the start of the trail :)
Yeah it looks great! Will it have a nice swooping dirt tranny?
Yeah it looks great! Will it have a nice swooping dirt tranny?
probably not,i'm thinking that it will have a steep rolldown like Shallow grave  :D :D :D discuss :D :D :D
Sorry which one is shallow graves? Sounds good any way
The one before the see-saw.
What sort of tranny does it have now? Is it straight into the bombhole or to flat.
ben
Oh awesome. Is anyone building on saturday as it is mothers day aint it?

ben
at the mo it drops on to the side of the shallowcrator/bombhole and is 7&half ft  or 15ft to some peoples minds;) its going to have a roll down as its exposed to public scutiny being next to the fire road however i'm not sure rolling it would the safest way
i know its mothers day and all that, however the new feature needs finishing so if ya can bring ya hard hat, gloves, boots etc(from now on the HSE term PPE will be used, personal protection equipment).
i'm hoping to arrange a lift for the rest of the timber on saturday ;)
see ya sunday.......Mr Fish
