View Full Version : Fort Bill
barring any issue's i'm proposing these dates for a road trip to the "Fort" on 23,24,25,26th june and meet up with Col and the rest of the "Zooport" crew, who's up for that then?
is it do able on a hardtail?
mmmmm probably you might need to have all your fillings put back in afterwards tho
Most certainly, although i am thinking of going for a 10 day summer vacation there (better get saving :( ) as the week we had last year didnt feel long enough and i think 2 weeks will destroy you. With these dates in mind i will sort out my accomidation and what not
Yeah  :woot: drool :wow: :wooot: :yeah:
I am does anyone have an idea of how much the whole time will cost??
We might be up for it but it depends on how the family holidays work out around it! Depending on how you get there will i think it is camping isn't it? It is about £10 a night i think depending which site we stay in, how much was it where you stayed ben?
i'm not too bothered about camping when your DHing especially if it rains and that's highly likely at FW,my prefered option is a big static caravan at a site about 4 miles away it usally works out cheaper than camping :D
Yeah i think we stayed there once on a family thing. Doesn't look like we can go because my dad says he is willing to take me out of school fora real holiday but not for biking in Scotland!!!!!

i should start thinking about growing that hair into dreads  ;) it might sharpen up ya dads sense's and just to remind every one my plan is for a long weekend not a week ;)
LOL i was thinking about that(dreads) is this the place near the bottom of Ben nevis - http://www.glen-nevis.co.uk/caravans/caravan_tariff.htm ?

It was £10 pitch a day (£70 for the week which was £35 each for a weeks lodge) it did rain every night for the week we camped and i think this time a log cabin is the better option, by the end of the week the grass underneath the tent was dead which created that really bad soggy grass stench, whilst you slept, we put our bikes insde the tent too so it wasnt the cleanest of places!
There's a travelodge just near the harbour in the town but it's always booked up well in advance
If i were staying in a log cabin it most probably would be camp lochy again, fantastic place with washing facilities, if only i knew how to use that washing machine  :rtfm:
where are the log cabins ? how much etc
Looks like this place http://www.lochy-holiday-park.co.uk/tariff.htm . A 6 berth wood cabin thingy costs £505 for the week, so less than £100 each (plus the cost of getting there, food, gear, repairs, etc etc :D )
It's a good thing and a bad thing - my fortnight's annual leave is the last two weeks in June so we might be able to come. BUT Gilly NEEDS a fix of hot sun and cold beer so we're having a week abroad. If we can fit it round Fort Bill, we will - but I can't say for sure until we've booked. If anyone needs any firm commitments soon We'll have to say we're out and if things change, there's always the tent.
Talking of Fort Bill: Did anyone take any pictures of ME last August, Spectacular crash just after the Deer Gate would be good or looking cool on the big exposed berms near the top. (Ben,big-hair-Dave and the Lincoln lads were all there at the time with cameras) All my pictures are of James. I reckon his mum thinks I don't really ride.
Sorry about that dad this time i'll take loads of pictures of you. Lets hope we get a holiday something like 14th to the 21st abroad then a day or so in between then fort bill it is!!! wishful thinking i think though
Just sent my application off to work at fort bill from mid may ish to the friday before the world cup, it will involve track maintenece! now, just sit and wait fingers crossed!!!
lol, you'll be telling the boss i'll have to ride this section and see if i've maintained it properly
Oh you mean the volunteer work. oooops
Basically the days i have said i am availible is the week before the world cup weekend, all accomidation and food is paid for and i will be a volunteer helping out, i would get a 'goodie ' bag at the end of it with t-shirts etc and invitations to event parties 'n' stuff, i may possibly take my bike :) but i guess at the moment its a long shot as there are only 200 places and no doubt 1000's of aplicants
Can you get me a "T" or a hoody if you get the "Job" I'll pay obviously.
