an excellent meeting with Chris Bray(FC) :D the brief is simple, two runs, one easy and one difficult  the easy trail will be low(ish) level and will be a combination of rollers, berms and mini drops with roll downs etc.
The "expert" trail will be a Huckers paradise verticle drops up to 1.5m(take off to to top of the tranny)wall rides etc, they will be located at the duel descender area starting 60m above the old start gate its hoped that a start tower will kick things off, the easy trail will take the left line and the expert the right, with a selection of warm up stuff, rollers, berms etc it will then cross (drop for the expert  ) the clearing and past the old start gate(the one near the corner/picnic table) from there the easy trail will go left and wind its way down to the bottom nice and flowing, the expert will use some of the old track as the route and i'll be making sure that i use as many of the natrual trannys as poss for landings etc this will flow down until the *cough* erm uphill bit  at the top of this short pedal i guess you can wait for your mates to catch up and where it will start off again with the final and most extreme section finishing with a massive huck  onto the big bank and a wall ride on the opposite bank.
with carful design using the natrual banks and incorparating roll downs(to keep hse happy)i think i can make some seriously big "hucks" and stunts etc,now to put the plan together in the next week or so and attract some sponsership, any contacts on this front would be gratefully recieved, contact me or chris bray chris.bray@forestry.gsi.gov.uk
the other side of the wood(right) is going to be developed into a much more flowing and technical single track and there's to be a new area for dirt jumps at the other end of the wood where the start of the NS trails will be,i think they need some people to come forward with some ideas. there i think thats all............watch this space

Its on the B6030 between Ollerton and Mansfield. Cool place, loads to do for the whole family. Can't miss it- big sign at the entrance. car parks about £2. If your going, you'll need more detailed instructions to find the dirt jumps and dual descenders. Just ask, or ask at the bike shop when you get there. Cool cafe as well!! ace chips!!

The dirt jumps are currently flattened, so don't expect to go for them...shame coz they were a real quality set of tabletops.

It should be good. There is a real good hillside there to put loads of quality stuff on it. Hopefully there should be some NS there for when my school goes with pe and we can rip some of the tracks up and show others how its done!lol(maybe not me)

i'm not sure you'll be allowed mate! when i did my gcse "cycling" there were only 2 of us wanted to do it so we went up to hamilton hill. Mr Freeman said we couldnt do the shore cos his insurance woulnt cover it!

might be different at sherwood, they have instructors go with you if theres alot. get persueding everyone!

Baker
09-04-06, 19:04
It'd be awesome. Will you still be in 6th form then? What year do they normally go?

jack
09-04-06, 19:56

Baker

Hopefully i will be doing GCSE pe next year and going to sherwood next year it'd be good to have someone i know can ride big MTB instead of the people who choose other sports and wanted to go just for the fun!

jack

I'll talk to freeman about it, he was on about a sports leadership course i could take aswell...... I'll look into it once my implant is sorted anyway.

Is it envisaged that Sherwood Pines will operate a similar membership scheme to Hamilton?

Baker
11-04-06, 10:30
I don't think that would work in a place like sherwood because it is full of families and although they wouldn't want to use the NS they might play around on some things like splashdown and you can't stop them really because it is a family aimed place i think.(is that right? My views)

Yeah, I think it would be hard to enforce. The dual descenders are sited very far from the visitors centre though so most little kids wouldn't get that far.

Baker
11-04-06, 16:58
Yeah that is true, when i was little we found it hard to get me there. There is some low level NS there already on dual descent 1 i think and most families hang around making it really hard to do them, and they all dawdle along the dual descents and you go flying up behind them and they don't usually think "oh we better pull over" so they may be a slight problem! Good visable signs may help a lot though?

And if you think about Willingham Woods is full of kids etc. and HH is out of sight from most people, so i would think that the same idea would be had for Sherwood Pines.
