We just changed our broadband connection from 1 mb with unlimited download limit, to an upto 8mb speed but with 40 gb downloadlimit . Just wondering how easy it is to use this limit, i pressume not very easy, but does it include pictures looked at etc? or is it just things you download like mtb videos:p . Could a computer wizz clarify this please. I tried googling it but it doesn't say what acctualy use's this download limit

that's for downloads only and 40gb is quite large .most pics are compressed to less than 100kb ,mp3 about 3000kb ,film maybe 10mb for a 10 min film but that depends on quality so you will get a shed load of downloads out of your 40gb you can look at pics and things all day long its only when you actually download something it starts using your allowance.(i think ),

p.s. im not a computer wizz

cheers

Not quite Chris.
Anything you look at on the net, be it pictures/movies/text files etc etc, anything at all, counts as traffic unless it is in your browser cach. you dont have to download anything, just viewing it counts.
reading this reply has used some of your bw, all be it an insignificant ammount.

Unless your a sick downloader, 40 gig is plenty. (think downloading 9dvd films or 450 albums or or)

Some isps only monitor your bandwidth usage, and take action (manually) if you persistantly go over that limit. Others have an automated process where once your limit is reached, you will consistantly get a page unavailable response from any website you visit, untill your limit is reset.

I know of people who have been kicked from their isp for abusing the dl limits (but these where crazy downloaders).

Thats good then. Me and my dad aren't cray downloaders but we do run 2 computers for a good few hours a day.
