our caravan holds 6 tops so if you want to chip in you can stay with us (that goes for anyone) its £330 for us for 10 days, i think £15/20 a night is alright?

dave_mawe
20-05-06, 17:56
well if you get the caravan full it would be 66 quid each with a train return 51 quid that would be £117 not bad for travel and accomodation.

Baker
20-05-06, 18:54
Sounds good! I think me and my dad are going our usual time in august around the 6th or something. I dunno whether anyone elso would be up for another go around that time because in my oppinion it is better a load going! Accomodation sound better than camping for sure!

No that wasn't the idea as its paid for as a present, all i was trying to say is that if anyone was going up at the same time i dont mind relieving the hassle of sorting accomidation ;)

what an excellent long weekend,me and graham arrived at the gondola station
at about 12.30 on sat and met up with welsh Col and jerermy, the weather was a bit grim very dull heavy mist with added showers :( i still bought a day
pass tho as did col ;) got changed and 15 mins later i stood at the top of
one of the best world cup coarses,it was hard 5 years ago the last time i
was here, that was nothing compared to this years version,on the first run
the top section down to the deer fence/cattle grid(approx half mile) just seemed totally mental, the track was erroded away so it just was made of football sized rocks with wheel sized holes in between, the berms were cool and braking bumps were to a minumum,i got down to the deer fence and it felt like my arms were gonna fall off,i was so tense.....and very scared  the rest of the course altho still big and a challenge was nothing compared to the top section, however the next run down seemed a fraction easier and i spotted some other lines on the way down and on the way up from the gondola, the third run was even better but still very shady the heavy rain didn't help either, the top section started to flow tho as was the rest of the coarse and just as i was getting into the flow i made a daft mistake and ova da barz i went, not good on the first day :( i got going again but called it a day ;) as i got an instant headache.

i awoke on Sunday to glourious sunshine with nice cooling breeze and a dry track, again the top section although getting easier was still a major challenge,i was starting to spot smoother lines, which added speed and more flow which in turn made it easier on your arms etc.
Monday was a repeat of sunday
http://www.trailblazerz.net/gallery/ratz_file.php?n=396&w=o
Tuesday was the same, however i now had put together some great lines through the roughest part and the whole coarse was really flowing,so come the afternoon i got the stop watch out and gave it to Ben,me and Cedric Mckay(bigmac) followed him down or tried to,he was absolutly motoring,Ben made it down in a very respectable 5.35,Cedric 6.30 and me 6.40 unfortunatly i had a stupid little off, cost me a couple of secs,it was my best run of the holiday, top fun.
then we come to the "last run of the day" syndrome, yep you guessed it.....big stack ova da barz trying rather foolishly to over take Ben on an alternative line i'd only done once before:rolleyes: ,my hand didn't hurt too much, however the xray showed a "long spiral fracture of the 5th left metacarpal" thats the bone between your wrist and first knuckle above your little finger.....could have done without that !!
its certainly been one of the best dh trips i've ever been on and really rare for Scotland was the hot and sunny weather.

we need to concider an alternative area to install it first as we've got some issue's with the current proposed site.

DAN HART

What are the issues? is at the bottom of the tresspass trail not a good spot anymore? I thought the majority were all for it?

Ben
03-07-06, 20:23
yes back at last, 189 unread posts!! awsome time, shall be getting more pics from a couple of guys who were there, one american with a BIG camera, will have them posted asap... the weather was great apart from thursday where it was that foggy they wernt advising people go up because of visability every other day was full on sunshine. Sunday i have never seen so many riders in one place, balfa, mojo and trek teams were there, followed chris ball down and managed to keep sight although he was motoring! didnt fall off once the whole week although had to jump off my bike to save my life when i over shot a berm in the woods and on the other side was a 10ft+ drop near vert drop into trees, i jumped off midflight and managed to run out of it, it then took 10 mins to untangle my bike. major repair is needed, bent my e-thirteen super charger, e-thirteen guide ring, badly dinted rim in a number of places, two dents in my frame from the forks! and my suspension squeeks and slurps... very unhealthy. great holiday, got the red bull jump tabled cleanly sat/sunday, did three whole runs back to back too.... very painful!

Ben
14-07-06, 21:49
Fish beat me to it! made the front and 3rd page of the daily telegraph today, 1st inncodent in 12 years, the other people in the 78 remaining cars had to wait 3 hours for them to sort it out, to be honest they do sound quite bad sometimes when your in them and look there age.

Baker
15-07-06, 22:08
I didn't think they were that bad, maybe this is because i was bricking it about the look of the track! Not concentrating on the sounds! Apparently the technition people had to crawl along the wire/ cable to the other box things and the people inside had to go down a rope ladder! What fun if you had a bike! Out of the window and round to your bike some how get it to the floor in one piece :D
