i'm just starting this thread to keep everyone "in the loop" on whats going on with the loop.

if you dont know where it starts, follow the line into the flowshow that takes you towards kfc. just to the right of the beginning of the berm leading into kfc is the xc routes beginning.

the plan is to make a complete loop. sofar though it extends about halfway down the hill to the right of trespass. sofar theres a good twisty downhill section with a couple of berms and favouring cambers to keep the speed up though the twisty twisty. it's just begun to open out into some long sweeping slight turns as the hill flattens out; the idea being to keep the speed and flow going on as the incline lessens.

please post any opinions you have in this 'ere thread.

enjoi :filthy:

We have to honour our agreement with the FC to have an xc loop around the site, the longterm plan with this loop is to have a few alternate routes off main loop with low level timber features (skinnies etc etc).
The first stage though is to get the loop in place.
Crazy rob.ca created most of what is there now, he has now gone on other adventures leaving the trail to us to finish.
My advice to those of you planning to work on the loop is to work out the route of the next section and check it isnt going to interfere with any other proposed tracks. Dont spend too much time on it, just establish the loop and we can take it from there :)

Only club members are permitted to develop this trail.

How long / how much of willingham woods can we use for an XC loop? IMO a short stretch of XC is not really worth it, but something incorporating the current stretch, perhaps TTT as well, plus trails through the rest of Willingham Woods and linking into local bridleways would be excellent.

Happy to help in development etc when time allows.

its a loop of our side of hamilton hill, goes down on the edge of the timber trailside, and climbs up the other side. Building an xc loop through the whole forest would be impossible for us ;)

So what is the total likely distance? I appreciate that a miles long XC route might be difficult, but if we had agreement to link into some of the existing footpath trails, with some interconnects through the trees (some good sigletrack there!), and then link into bridleways it would be excellent.

An XC loop of under a mile is not really that great IMO...not being negative you understand, just realistic.

well if where being realistic,IMO, an xc loop of any distance has no place in a freeride park, but the agreement was for a loop around the site, so to kill 2 birds with one stone and have the novice freeride course incorporated into it.

LOL! agreed. Some of us like the dark side of XC as well as freeride though :)

So really we are talking about a novice freeride course - that's a different kettle of chickens then!

freeride can involve going up hills aswell y'no.

and novice freeride sounds good. we talking the sort of features that are on some of the xc trails at glentress? floorshore if y'will?

if you want a full on xc jaunt, trek accross the wolds, or go somewhere that sells themselves on xc;) dalby perhaps:)

i dont think the term, freeride could be applied to riding up the hill adjacent to the radio mast ;)

well, y'no what i mean! and yea the idea is just for a short xc loop. if you really want you can ride around the rest of the woods too, fish has said to continue it so it links up to the main route as an option just before it branches off into the uphil.

Sounds good then, now I (think I) am clear on what is being talked about.

I wouldn't mind helping out with the xc loop, just let me know when the dig day's are and I'll try to make it.

I might be able to bring a few others along as most of my mates ride red/black xc routes, if you're ok with me bringing a few people along, or would they have to be paid up members? (I will be next pay cheque!)
