Lincs CC have just published their plan for improving rights of way in Lincs - covering bridleways, footpaths and other trails we might cycle on. The full documentation can be found at http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/section.asp?docId=49285&catId=11202&pageTitle=Rights+of+Way+Improvement+Plan+Consultat ion - this is pretty massive, but the summary and the feedback form itself are OK and easily understood. Section 8 has a specific mention of cyclists, but with almost no mention of MTBs as a specific type of user with their own needs and wants:? .

If we are ever going to see a decent cycling network in this county, with trails that don't just peter out in a dead end, or in some farmers ploughed field:rolleyes: , then we need to respond to plans such as this. Personally my response is that there is too much mention of 'walkers' when they ought to mean cyclists as well, the existing network is fragmented and difficult to find due to lack of signs and unclear paths, and they need to open more footpaths up to riders.

So download the form and give the Council some feedback - it will take a few minutes (especially as the form can't be completed electronicaly, and has to be posted back in hard copy - something else I have complained about in my response:mad: ), but it might just lead to some decent improvements in XC cycling in the county.

:)
