I think its true to say that everyoneâ??s prayers were answered on race day, our first ever dry race!!!! And what a fantastic race day it was too, and also without a doubt the best track weâ??ve put together so far.
Starting off with the juniors, Zumbi rider James Baker puts in a pretty rapid time 29.97 with Chris Colley and Ben Nash 3.6 secs down & unable to break into the 20 sec barrier. Run 2 see Baker still in front, but not improving his time, nor Colley and Nash Junior â?? 1st J Baker 2nd C Colley 3rd B Nash Intermediate Sees Steven Scott set a blistering time of 28.88 with Rich Batey & Ben Hildred not quite able to match this, but not by too much 0.4 secs Run 2 clearly unhappy about 2nd Batey really lights it up with a stunning 28.66 Scott was unable to improve on his 1st run time with RATZ hotshot Hildred doing an identical time to his first 1st R Batey 2nd S Scott 3rd B Hildred Masters And Martin Creaser gets a flier and posts a 29.93 with Danny Milliken & Chris Harbon only 0.8 & 1.1 down Run 2 with Creaser unable to improve his first run time, it was looking like Milliken was digging deep and looking like he might have a reply, only to bin it on the road gap corner, Harbon also unable to improve 1st M Creaser 2nd D Milliken 3rd C Harbon Onto the final 9 man eliminator and the delicious smells coming from the BBQ and the baying crowd had certainly created an electric atmosphere and at this point club expectations were high, would local Lincolnshire rippa Hildred manage to see off the Yorkshire invasion? We will see and on to the final, by this time, although the track had stood up well, it was starting to cut up and become pretty loose in places, making for some sketchy moves. First up Ben Nash 33.22 puts in good but steady run and improves on his earlier times, followed by Chris Colley 34.85 who didnâ??t quite manage to match his previous runs. Next up, Chris Harbon 29.94 really on a mission breaking into the 20 sec barrier, followed by James Baker 30.16 who puts in a big effort but couldnâ??t get into the 20â??s, Danny Milliken 30.25 puts in good solid run but also canâ??t break into the 20 sec region next Ben Hildred really ripping and posting a 29.22 setting the fastest time so far, will it be enough? Martin Creaser next really looking quick, but unable to beat Benâ??s time 29.59, next up Steven Scott, sounding very determined to win the title and looking like he might, but for a major issue to occur giving him time of 39.00 and on to the last man down Richard Batey, I can only describe his run as awesome, Iâ??m not sure how he managed it, but he improved on his already rapid times and posts an incredible 28.32 to take the 09 KING OF THE HILL. Well done Rich. What a final! And along with the BBQ, raffle and bling trophies all added up to make it a memorable day. A big thank you to, Mandy & Alison for doing the catering, Simon Moore for the time keeping, Rick Brown and all the other members who helped get the track and every thing else sorted for the day. Also special thanks to our sponsors, Superstar components 01522 705121 , fatality bmx.com , elsfal cycles(Grimsby) 01472 357975., Louth cycles 01507 607447 and Team Creaser for the most excellent raffle prizes
